This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit theflippr.com, sign up for updates or reserve a Flippr, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We keep it short because we collect very little.
Who we are
Flippr is made by PlayPulse BV, Tabakstraat 78, 9800 Wontergem, Belgium, enterprise number BE0753515596. We are the controller of your personal data. For any question about this policy or your data, email [email protected].
What we collect and why
When you sign up for updates
We collect your email address so we can send you news about Flippr, such as the Kickstarter launch. We do this with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link in every email.
When you reserve a Flippr
Payments are handled by Stripe on its own checkout page. Stripe collects your email address, your name, your card or other payment details and your billing country. We receive your email address, your name, your billing country and the status of your payment. We never see your full card number.
We use this data to:
- process your reservation and refund it when you ask us to;
- send you a confirmation email;
- invite you to back Flippr at the reservation price when the Kickstarter campaign goes live.
We need this data to carry out your reservation. We also keep payment records because Belgian accounting and tax law requires us to.
Reservation holders also receive our updates about Flippr. We send them because you showed interest in the product, which is our legitimate interest. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in every email; your reservation stays valid.
When you contact us
When you email us or use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address and whatever you write. The form sends your message to our inbox through our email system. We use it to answer your question, which is our legitimate interest, and keep the conversation as long as we need it to help you. Using the form does not subscribe you to our updates.
When you visit the site
Like every website, ours receives your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, uses this to deliver the site and protect it against abuse. This is our legitimate interest in running a secure website. We do not use this data to identify or profile you.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising or social media trackers. Our fonts are served from our own domain, so your browser does not contact Google or any other font service. Our emails contain no tracking pixels or tracked links, so we do not know whether you open them or what you click.
When you reserve, you leave our site for Stripe's checkout page, where Stripe uses its own cookies to process the payment and prevent fraud. See the Stripe privacy policy.
Who we share it with
We never sell your data. We only share it with the services that help us run Flippr:
- Cloudflare hosts the website and the code that handles signups, contact messages and reservations.
- Stripe processes reservation payments and refunds. For fraud prevention and its own legal obligations, Stripe acts as an independent controller.
- Our email system runs on a server we control in the European Union and stores our contact list. It delivers emails through Amazon Web Services.
We do not share your data with Kickstarter. When the campaign launches we email you a link; if you back Flippr there, Kickstarter's own privacy policy applies to what you give them.
We may also disclose data when the law requires it, for example to a court or a public authority.
Transfers outside the European Union
Cloudflare, Stripe and Amazon Web Services are companies with operations in the United States, so your data may be processed there. These transfers are covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Update signups: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your address. When you unsubscribe, we keep a note that you did so we never email you again by mistake, unless you ask us to delete it too.
- Reservations: as long as your reservation is open and the Kickstarter campaign runs, and until any refund is settled.
- Payment records: as long as Belgian accounting and tax law requires.
- Website logs: only as long as Cloudflare needs them to deliver and protect the site.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:
- see the personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- have it corrected if it is wrong;
- have it deleted;
- restrict how we use it, or object to our use of it;
- receive it in a machine-readable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting what we did before.
To use any of these rights, email [email protected]. We answer within one month.
If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be), Drukpersstraat 35, 1000 Brussels, or to the authority in the EU country where you live.
Children
Our signups and reservations are not meant for children under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, email us and we will delete it.
Security
All traffic to this site is encrypted. Only the people at Flippr who need your data can see it, and we keep the systems that hold it up to date.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. If a change affects how we use data you already gave us, we will email you before it takes effect.
